Thought leadership
Forums, insights, platforms and data to drive international convergence and consensus on sustainability issues.
What we do
We harness data and experience from over a decade of sustainability-related work with MSMEs in developing countries to encourage global trade policy makers to take greater account of MSMEs’ sustainability needs.
Why we do it
In order for international trade to enable the transition towards a climate neutral, resource efficient, circular global economy, global efforts at the bilateral and multilateral levels are needed to achieve shared international commitments for sustainable development
How we do it
We strengthen awareness on the merits of producing and consuming sustainably by bringing voices from the private and public sectors and civil society in its publications and programme activities in the field, leveraging a wide and diverse network of stakeholders in the promotion of sustainable production and consumption.

EU City Awards
Promoting fair and ethical cities
Cities who champion more sustainable trade, consumption and production
The EU Cities for Fair and Ethical Trade Award celebrates EU cities who champion more sustainable trade, consumption and production, thus creating opportunities for producers elsewhere.
Consumers living in EU cities can be the driving force behind changing attitudes to trade and have a positive impact on the environment and people’s livelihoods. This is why the Award aims to recognize cities working to change consumption and production patterns with the aim to create a unique platform for cities to learn, share and scale-up their sustainability initiatives. All the while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the SDG12 on more responsible consumption and production.
